First Pickleball USOpen is history, take a look…

Well, the first USOpen is in  the  pickleball history book. Our local favorites did OK: Marcin Rozpedski (The Lakes CC) and Morgan Evans (Shadow Mountain CC) got Gold in the Men’s Doubles Age 30 Group, and Evans got Bronze in the Mixed 30s; Barbara Wintroup (organizer of our inter-club league) got Gold in the Women’s Doubles Age 70 Group, Gold in the Women’s Singles 70 Age Group  and Silver in the Mixed 70s. When we get the results of the Men’s Pro Singles, we’ll let you know, send congrats to all, and post any available videos of their play.

In the mean time, here’s a look at the BIG, BIG pickleball facility in Naples, Florida, that accommodated the 800 participants in this first Open (click on the URL at the bottom of this page to access the video).

The Open Play here at IRCC this week remains much the same as last week, with the addition of an “Advanced Player” hour (3pm on Wednesday) where we ‘ll be trying  out a new way to rate competitive players to see if it something that’ll work here at IRCC. Otherwise, all are invited to come down for open play times:

Monday @ 4-6pm

Wednesday @ 4-6pm

Thursday @ 5:30-7pm

Saturday @ 3-5pm

Let all know when we can expect you on the courts this week with a “Comment” below.

  1. Barb, I believe Dan Newell will come and Nancy will join in, so let’s play. See you there? Rod
