OUR HALLOWEEN SPECTACULAR IS HERE!

Scan_20191014

The forecast is for very pleasant weather this Thursday afternoon, October 31,  at our annual Halloween fun-filled  gathering with your fellow pickleball spooks.. We’ll start sharply at 4pm and play some crazy round robin pickleball for about 1 1/2 hours (so come a little earlier to warmup). Then we planned to slink up to the Arroyo Grill. But given that the Arroyo Grill is open for service only until 6pm that evening, we’re going to forego that part and have our spectacular gathering all by the courts. Feel free to bring some happy hour goodies to share and a beverage of your choice to the courts.   Costumes welcomed, but not mandatory.

We already have five (5) courts of spooks signed up, so don’t miss this frightful event. Sign up at the Fitness deck or click on the link below and send us an “I/we are in” email.

I/we want in on this spooky event.

Again, your annual gathering of spooks is here!

Weekly Roundup……..

The recent survey of “Who and When” pickleballers are returning to Indian Ridge showed about 80% will return early in November. Sooo, let’s have a Weekly Roundup blog until then that asks those of us here already:  who’d like to play on what days at the Open Play times?  If we know this “who and when,” we’ll try our best to let others know, so games can be put together. Give it a try by sending an email via the link below, mentioning the Open Play days you’d like to play from Thursday 10/10 thru Sunday, 10/20.

The Open Play times for the balance of the month are:

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8am-11am

Saturdays and Sundays at 8am -11am.

This is when I/we expect to play

Who and when???

Competition gets the blood flowing and attitude sharpened!

So folks, we have to ask: who’s now here at Indian Ridge ready for some pickleball and when will the others arrive? Please let us know when you expect to start playing here via this email link:

I’m here or I’m coming soon (when?)

For those here and ready to go, the open play times during October are:

Tuesdays & Thursdays …….. 8am-11am

Saturdays & Sundays…………8am-11am

The weather should cool in November to allow us to return to regular Open Play start times, including some evening play.

Some changes underway…….

If you think things have stalled in the heat of the Palm Desert summer, here’s evidence that projects and certain activities have kept going. First, there’s the expanded pavilion area at Indian Ridge, with the new seating areas you see below. Other improvements are in the works, we understand. So stay tuned.

New courtside setting areas at Indian Ridge

Last June, when IRCC action faded, this writer decided to stop over at Freedom Park and maybe pickup a few games. He found the courts empty, when they always had been very active. The reality hit that all the action had shifted to The Palm Desert Resort, just  across Country Club Drive, when they offer refurbished courts and annual paid memberships, with the support of some local pros. It sure appeared that the days when “Freedom is where it’s at” were gone forever. So, it’s a great surprise that Palm Desert is now investing in improving the courts (see below), with new fencing, lighting, seating areas, etc. It’ll be interesting to see if such major improvements (and no annual fee) will bring back some, if not all, of the dedicated players of yore. Again, stay tuned.
