The birth and early years…….

Ah, you might think we’re referring to celeb or statesmen. No, it’s a video that Marilyn Dierickx came across and sent to us about the beginnings and spread of pickleball nationally. We know something about the Bainbridge Island, WA, beginnings and eventual growth of the game, but here’s a lot more info to fill in the gaps and gain new appreciation for the founders. Have a look by clicking on the link below.

How Pickleball started and grew.

Thanks and more thanks…..

If “Kitty” cans could smile, this one would. You’ve seen this one by the Open Play courts the last couple of weekends and many of you generously donated a total of $345. It’ll be used for snacks, beverages, and other delights during inter-club and special events this season. Again, thanks much.

Oh, if there is anyone disappointed at not having an opportunity to donate, there’s still an envelope at the Fitness Center desk, where cash and checks (payable to Nadine Woods) can be left.

Holiday Round Robin was a … smash!

Most-points winners were Sue Van Geel and Dave Ross, with Nicole Gamlam and Dean Weise the runners up.

Yes, the pickleballs were dinked, driven and smashed in our inaugural Holiday Round Robin event. One round was played for most points won, with the above proud winners. Then we played another , more relaxed round and then nibbled and sipped our way through some nifty snacks and drinks (thanks to Nadine Woods, Nancy Kolin and friends).

Keep tuned for the next event.

New Pickleball Premier League Update…..

We’ve had a good response to the appeal below from those who want to play on the Women’s team of this newly-forming League, but a lot less interest in the Men’s and Mixed  teams. So, please let us know if you have an interest but haven’t yet responded, by just clicking on the link below for the desired team.

“There is a new CVGP Premier Pickleball League this season, starting in January and going on to the end of March. They’ll be Men’s Doubles and Women’s Doubles 3.0 skill level teams playing each Thursday at 11:30am or 1pm, at our courts or at another participating local Club.* There’ll also be a Mixed Doubles 3.0 skill level team that’ll play on Wednesday’s. We hope you will want to play with your friends in one or more of these competitive but enjoyable formats for a maximum three games in the matches you play. So, let us know your availability and interest by clicking on one or two the links below. Then, we’ll get back to you with follow-up information about an organization meeting, some team practices and the steps to sign up with the League.**

I’m interested in playing on the Men’s team

I’m interested in playing on the Women’s team

I’m/we’re interested in playing on the Mixed team

* This new Premier League is separate from the Elite League, which is now for 3.5/4.0 skill level players.

It’s a Holiday Round Robin event……..

Competition gets the blood flowing and attitude sharpened!

Join us for a Holiday Round Robin next Saturday at 10am. Since we couldn’t find a club available to play so close to the holidays, we thought we’d do our own inhouse round robin games anyways, with some prizes awarded for the most points won on each court. We’ll do our best to match compatible players at all levels and even recognize good manners with special Mr. & Miss “Congeniality” awards. Afterwards,  we can repair to JKs or the Arroyo Grill patio for lunch and the award presentations.

Unless you’ve already signed up at the courts today, please click on the link below and let us know you’re going to play.

I/we want to play in Saturday’s round robin event.
