Just a follow-on note that the friends of Nancy and Rod Smith donated over $1,200 to her favored local battered-women charity, Shelter From The Storm. Many thanks from her family and kudos for her pickleball friends.
Join me for the Shot of the Week Clinic tomorrow (Saturday) right after Open Play at 11am. Tomorrow’s Shot of the Week is: Backspin Forehand.
This is a very useful shot as it puts some spin on the ball, making it tougher for your opponents to return the shot. There are also other benefits which we’ll discuss tomorrow.
Hope to see you there!
Please join me for the shot of the week clinic tomorrow (Saturday) after Open Play. Tomorrow’s Shot of the Week will be: The Forehand Topspin Drive.
This shot can be so important in putting your opponents under pressure. Learning to properly hit a topspin drive is key to developing your power game, and creating opportunities for you and your partner to take over a point quickly!
Hope to see you there!
Please join me tomorrow (Saturday) after Open Play at 11am for the Shot of the Week Clinic. This week’s shot will be: The Block Volley
The Block Volley is so important in order to take pace off of the ball, and can be used from all over the court. This is a great tool to add to your Pickleball belt!
Hope to see you there!
Join me for the shot of the week clinic tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am (following Open Play). This is open to all levels, and we will use as many courts as necessary to maintain proper distancing!
Tomorrow’s shot of the week is: THE LOB!
Yes, I said it, the lob! I know a lot of you have heard me say “Don’t lob from the baseline”. Well tomorrow, I’ll teach when and how to lob effectively, as well as how to defend it!
Hope to see you out there!
Dear Indian Ridge Pickleballers,
Happy New Year! Although 2020 has been challenging and an adjustment for everyone in various ways, I’m thankful to be a part of Indian Ridge! We only had 1 person who tested positive for Covid-19 within the Pickleballers since I started working back in November, and we should all continue to be careful and mindful around other people. I am pleased that everyone is being responsible, keeping their distance, and wearing their masks, and glad we have been able to continue all operations on the Pickleball side of things! Let’s keep it that way moving forward!
Starting January 1st, 2021, there are a few of changes happening to the regular Pickleball Schedule.
- Open Play times will be on Tuesday/Thursday 3pm-6pm, and continue on Saturday/Sunday 9am-11am.
- Tuesday Balance Class and Thursday Agility/Strength Class have been combined into 1 class on Tuesdays at 9am (no longer 8:15am). I hope to see more of you there as it will start a little later in the day, and is essential to improving your Pickleball game.
- Thursday mornings: I am creating a “Drill Like A Pro” session from 9am-10am. This is open to any level, and will just be a practice session where I show you how to approach practice and drilling in order to improve your game, no matter what level of play you are at.
- Saturday Mornings (following Open Play) at 11am: I am creating the “Shot of the Week” Clinic where we will go over 1 specific shot every week, so that we can develop additional skills in your game that will help you improve! As with all clinics, only 8 spots available so signing up in advance is important.
- The other regular Wednesday/Friday Clinic schedule will not change.
These changes will improve the current services offered for Indian Ridge Pickleball, and the schedule changes will help with the colder weather. Please see the updated flyer for all details, schedule, and rates.
I hope to see all of you at various clinics, classes, and lessons very soon!
Best wishes for 2021!!
Noe Sariban, Indian Ridge Pickleball Director
With the fading sun light and chill of winter eves, the timing of Open Play on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons has come under question. As an increasing number of players have started playing earlier than 4pm, it appears that expanding Open Play for these days during the winter months from the current 4-6pm to 3-6pm would be welcomed. So, unless we hear otherwise from those who frequent these play times, we’ll make the formal change beginning next Tuesday, January 5.
Thanks for your understanding.
PS: We’re also hoping that our new PB Director, Noe, can join us for some of these earlier sessions; he’s been such a positive influence at other Open Play times.
There was a special, fun-filled pickleball doubles exhibition at the Club courts this morning, thanks to (from left to right) our Pickleball Director, Noe Sariban, who enlisted the participation of the World’s number-two-ranked women’s doubles player, Lucy Kovalova , the first- ranked Men’s doubles player, Matt Wright (son of Club member, Dean Wright), and our well-known local pro and national star, Morgan Evans. Great fun that we hope will be done again soon.
Great job to everyone who took lessons and clinics this week! I felt there was some good progress out there among our players!
Tomorrow is Open Play from 9am-11am. I will be there to play with all of you, as well as dedicate courts per level.
Please note that Court 2 will not be available as they are starting the repair on the crack (the court will be unavailable until Wednesday).
I hope to see you all out there!
For Thanksgiving, Open Play has been moved to 9am-11am. Courts will be designated by level, and the Challenge court will be in place! I will be there to monitor everything and to make sure everything goes smoothly!
Hope to you out there!
